Overview
General diagnostic ultrasound provides real-time images of your major organs, used to evaluate the heart, abdomen, kidneys, thyroid, and vascular system. Our cardiovascular studies are performed by registered sonographers and read by board-certified radiologists.
Why it’s done
You may be referred to ultrasound if you have:
- Echocardiogram, carotid Doppler, and peripheral vascular studies
- Abdominal evaluation — gallstones, renal masses, pancreatic and liver findings
- Pelvic and obstetric imaging
- 3D / 4D obstetric imaging for expectant families
- Ultrasound-guided procedures, including needle biopsy
How to prepare
What to expect
Most studies take 30–60 minutes. You will lie on an exam table while a registered sonographer applies warm gel and moves the transducer across the area being studied. There is no radiation; the procedure is painless.

Results & follow-up
Findings are sent to your referring physician, typically within 24 hours, who will share results and next steps. Urgent findings are communicated immediately.
